What is Intercom?
Intercom is a customer service platform made of a help desk and Fin, an AI agent. Intercom says the two share one record, one knowledge base and one inbox. Fin is described as handling service, sales, ecommerce and success conversations, and as connecting to your systems through APIs, data connectors or MCP to look up customer data and take actions.
Intercom's sites list chat, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, social channels and Slack as places Fin can work, and say Fin speaks dozens of languages. Fin's own site says it also works with other help desks, naming Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot and Freshdesk.
Where Intercom is a strong choice
Intercom is a strong fit for support teams that want their help desk and AI agent from one vendor, with deep tooling for agents.
- You are choosing a new help desk anyway and want AI built into it.
- You support customers by email, phone and SMS as well as chat.
- You want the AI to take actions in your own systems, such as looking up an account, through connectors.
- You prefer to pay for the AI by the outcomes it delivers rather than by usage.
Where Gydr is different
Gydr is lighter to adopt. It does not replace your help desk or charge per seat; it adds an AI chatbot in front of the tools you have.
- A Free plan to start, and unlimited chatbots on every plan.
- Telegram as well as WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and your website, all answering from one set of knowledge.
- Knowledge for shops and service businesses: product catalogues with prices and images, FAQs, documents and branch locations.
- Replies in the customer's language across 50 languages, with a dashboard in English, Bahasa Melayu or Chinese.
- White Label with your own web address from Growth, and a partner program for agencies and resellers.

How to add Gydr instead of moving to Intercom
If your team is happy with its help desk, you can add Gydr in front of it in an afternoon.
- 1Create a free Gydr account and a chatbot.
- 2Add your FAQs, documents, products and locations, or let the crawler read your website.
- 3Connect your help desk: Zendesk, Zanroo Desk, CRMeja, or a Custom Desk your developer builds.
- 4Put the chatbot on your website and connect WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram or Telegram.
- 5Test hand-overs in the dashboard, then go live.
Common questions
Gydr is priced differently rather than per seat or per resolution: each plan includes monthly AI credits and there is a Free plan. Compare both on your own conversation volume before deciding.

Gydr works with Zendesk: it answers first and hands the conversation to Zendesk Messaging as a live chat, or files a Zendesk ticket, when a person is needed.
No. Gydr covers your website, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Telegram. For email, phone or SMS support, a help desk such as Intercom is the better fit.
