The AI chatbot for your Shopify store

Shoppers ask in their own words. Gydr searches your live Shopify catalogue, shows sizes, colours, prices and whether each item is in stock, then links straight to the product page so they can buy on your store.

What shoppers can ask

Your Shopify catalogue, answering for itself.

Want the strongest answers in every language?

Store search matches the words in your product names, in the language they are written in. Import your products into a Product Knowledge Base and the assistant matches what shoppers mean, in any language.

About the Knowledge Base
  • “Do you have…?”

Searches your Shopify products and shows the matches with photo, price and a link to each product page.

  • Browse your collections

Lists your collections and what is in each, so shoppers can explore without leaving the chat.

  • Sizes, colours and prices

Opens a product to show its options and its price, or the price range when options cost different amounts.

  • In stock or sold out

Says whether a product can be bought right now, straight from your store. It never states a quantity.

  • Buying stays on Shopify

There is no cart in the chat. Each product links to its page, so checkout, payments and orders stay in Shopify.

Setup

Connected in one sitting.

  1. Create a storefront token in Shopify

Install Shopify's Headless channel, create a storefront and copy its public access token. Headless needs the Shopify Basic plan or higher.

  2. Paste it into Gydr

Add the Shopify Storefront plugin to your chatbot, then enter your store's myshopify.com address and the token.

  3. Choose search settings and go live

Decide whether sold-out products are suggested and how results are ordered, then add your chatbot's embed line to your Shopify theme.

Use your permanent myshopify.com address, not your custom domain. A token from an older Shopify custom app still works.

Read-only by design

It can read your store. It can't change it.

Can't place or change an order
The assistant has no way to create an order, and can never edit, cancel or refund one.
Never edits your store
It only reads. It never changes a product, price, stock level or setting in Shopify.
A token that can only read
The storefront token Gydr needs only reads your product listings, and it is stored encrypted.
Shows what your store shows
Products, prices and availability come straight from Shopify, so the chat stays in step with your shop.

Selling on WooCommerce instead?

The WooCommerce assistant searches your catalogue the same way, and answers “Where is my order?” for shoppers signed in to your store.

Questions, answered

On Gydr, Shopify Storefront is a plugin, available on the Starter plan and above. On Shopify, the Headless channel that issues the storefront token needs the Basic plan or higher, so stores on Shopify's Starter plan can't connect it.

Shopify now issues storefront tokens through its Headless channel instead of through custom apps made in your admin. You create a storefront there and copy its public access token. If you already have a token from an older custom app, it still works.

No. There is no cart in the chat. The assistant links each product to its page on your store, where shoppers add to cart and check out with Shopify as usual.

Only on a headless storefront that has its own customer sign-in, because the assistant reads an order with the shopper's own sign-in, never with a store-wide key. A standard Shopify theme can't pass that sign-in to the chat, so on most stores the assistant answers product questions only.

It replies in the shopper's language, but store search matches the words in your product names. Tell Gydr which languages your catalogue is written in, or import your products into a Product Knowledge Base so shoppers are understood whatever language they write in.

Suggestions show in-stock products by default. You can change that in the plugin's search settings, and sold-out products are then marked as sold out.

Yes. The same assistant searches your Shopify catalogue on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Telegram, and sends each product with a link to its page.
